Five minutes with Blair Davie

We had a chat with Blair Davie about life on tour, new music and his goals for 2023…

Thanks for chatting with us! You’ve been on the road a lot this year so far, both as a headliner and supporting JP Cooper. What have you loved the most about touring this year?

“Getting to see how my songs connect with people from all over the UK and Europe has been the most beautiful experience of my life. Speaking to people after the shows and hearing their stories of love, traumas and mental issues just because I stood on stage and shared mine is truly my favourite part of touring.”

As well as a couple of shows during October, you’re due to headline Laylow in London on 9th November. What can we expect from these performances?

“My first London headline show ahhh!! I think you can expect a really vulnerable and hopefully joyous night, where it’s okay to be whoever you are, from whatever walk of life…

Bring tissues and be ready for some beautiful sing along moments!”

You released your latest single ‘Him, Hymn’ at the end of September. What inspired you to write the track?

“Him, Hymn was exactly the song I needed to write at exactly the point in my life when I needed to write it. I’d be suppressing my bisexuality since I was 13 and it felt like it was becoming this massive weight on my shoulders. I didn’t even plan to write the song, one night I just shut all the curtains in my room, sat in the dark and just finally let my truth pour out of me.”

As a rising star doing what you love, what advice can you give to those who want to follow in your footsteps?

“For me, the biggest game changer was learning how to be honest and vulnerable. I think if you can capture who you are, unapologetically in your music then you’re at the least onto something that you can be proud of. Anything else from there is a bonus!”

We’re in the last leg of 2022 after an amazing year! What are your biggest achievements of 2022, and what are your goals for 2023?

“2022 has flown by, oh my goodness! I think for 2023 it’s just about doing more of the same but bigger and better. There are still more parts of me that I want to explore in my writing and my live shows, but ultimately I’m just so grateful that for now it seems that I’m on the right path, with a beautiful team around me and a beautiful and wholesome group of people that connect with what I do.”

Listen to Blair’s latest single ‘Him, Hymn’ below and grab your tickets to his first headline London show! Don’t forget the connect with him on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter for updates on future shows and releases.
