Our Staff highlight the albums they’re listening to this June

Katie Von Schleicher - Consummation

Oli

"I’ve literally sent this album to everyone I know since discovering it last month, I cant stop listening to it! An eclectic mix of genres and sounds, her voice is stunning I dont think there’s a bad song on it. Go listen to it now.”

Favourite tracks: Wheel, Caged Sleep, Loud

Obongjayar - Which Way Is Forward?

Nora

“Obongjayar's was the last gig I went to before the lockdown and what a gig it was! Since then I've been listening to Which Way Is Forward? a lot. As mentioned in most reviews, it's difficult to categorise it's sound (that's probably why I like it), you just have to listen to it. Make sure to pay attention to the lyrics too.”

Favourite track: Dreaming in Transit

Teyana Taylor - The Album

Peter

“Powerful record with an insane list of feature artists (incl. Erykah Badu, Lauryn Hill, Missy Elliot, etc.). Loving the statement of releasing it on Juneteenth too! A must listen if you're into the new wave drawing on mainstream RnB!”

Favourite track: Morning (with Kehlani)

Theo Lawrence – Sauce Picante

Greg

"Another one that completely skipped my radar last year, coming out in October but needless to say I’ve played it everyday for the last three weeks. An incredible modern spin on country, soul, rock and roll, and gospel, mostly from the late 60s. Simply stunning and a tad spicy, just as the name suggests."

Favourite track: They Don't Like Me (Where I'm From)

Phoebe Bridgers - Punisher

Sam

"I love this new record from Phoebe, who manages to successfully put the ‘difficult second album’ myth to rest - and it seems effortless. It’ll come as no surprise that you can hear the influence of Elliot Smith throughout, who she says ‘informs everything I like’. If melancholy is your thing, it’s not to be missed."

Favourite tracks: Punisher, Saviour Complex, Kyoto
