5 Minutes with Dan Mangan

Hi Dan! Lovely to chat with you today! Your show at The Lexington on Tuesday 13th June is coming up fast! What can we and your fans expect to see from you during the show?

“I’ll be playing solo which means I can basically just hang out with the audience.. I’ll spend most of the evening taking requests and telling stories, cracking jokes.. I love solo shows because you can get rid of any kind of stage presumption and just be humans in a room.”

Describe for us in three words the vibe of one of your gigs.

“Humans in flow”

As 2023 reaches its halfway point, what would you say has been your greatest achievement so far this year?

“I have never had the kind of opportunity I’m having on tour with The Lumineers. I feel like I’ve been waiting almost 20 years for a break like this. It’s so exciting.”

What one piece of advice would you give to up and coming artists looking to get on to the live circuit?

“Play a million shows and don’t be an asshole. You’d be amazed at what can happen.”

If you could pick one artist or band to feature on one of your songs, who would it be and why?

“Radiohead forever and ever. Because they’re the best band in the world. They’re not even playing the same sport as the rest of us. It’s like there’s Radiohead and then there are a bunch of people in bands.”
